This course will educate caregivers on the essential principles of hospice care and how to support patients and their families in a home setting effectively. In-home caregivers play a critical role in hospice care, providing not only physical care but also offering emotional support, managing pain, and helping families navigate the complexities of end-of-life care.
The course will cover topics such as understanding the goals of hospice care, symptom management (especially pain control), providing emotional and spiritual support, communication strategies with patients and families, and addressing the physical and psychological needs of both the patient and their loved ones during this sensitive time. In addition, caregivers will learn how to balance providing professional care while also offering compassion and empathy to those facing the challenges of terminal illness.
