Course Description
This national-level, Florida-focused continuing-education course prepares nurse-registry professionals to help families navigate the complexities of Long-Term Care Insurance (LTCI) policies while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Participants learn how LTCI works, what makes a policy tax-qualified, and how to coordinate documentation and communication with insurers. Practical strategies are provided for confirming coverage details—through three-way calls with the insurer and policyholder—while keeping responsibility for policy interpretation with the client. Topics include benefit triggers, elimination periods, daily and lifetime benefit limits, reimbursement versus indemnity plans, assignment-of-benefits procedures, and current market trends such as insurer referral networks (for example, Genworth CareScout) and data from the MetLife Market Survey of Long-Term Care Costs. By completing this course, administrators and staff will be able to present themselves as informed professionals who can guide families confidently through an often-confusing financial process without assuming legal or financial liability.
