Stroke is a leading cause of disability in adults and frequently results in long-term functional, cognitive, and psychosocial changes. In the home setting, caregivers are central to promoting safe mobility, medication adherence, secondary stroke prevention, communication strategies after aphasia, and person-centered routines that support independence and dignity.
This course offers practical guidance for in-home caregivers to collaborate with interprofessional teams, implement safe care plans, and monitor for red flags. Learners will explore positioning, transfers, skin integrity, bowel and bladder routines, nutrition, home safety, communication aids, cognitive strategies, and caregiver resilience—grounded in realistic scenarios and checklists that fit daily workflow.
