Scott Strachan, RN, BSN, brings decades of hands-on healthcare, nursing, in-home care, and nurse registry experience to the development of continuing education and caregiver training at C-E-U.com.
Scott's healthcare career began as a Certified Nursing Assistant providing care in clients' homes. He later became a registered nurse and practiced across diverse clinical environments before moving into nurse registry administration and ownership. Since 2007, he has operated a Florida nurse registry while remaining actively involved in caregiver education, nurse registry regulation, industry leadership, and the development of practical solutions for caregivers and healthcare businesses.
That progression—from CNA to RN to nurse registry owner and administrator to healthcare educator—provides the real-world perspective Scott brings to the educational content developed for C-E-U.com.
Scott began his healthcare career as a Certified Nursing Assistant providing in-home care. That experience gave him firsthand knowledge of the responsibilities and challenges caregivers encounter while working directly with clients in their homes.
He later earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Penn State and became a registered nurse.
Scott's clinical experience has included medical-surgical nursing, hospice and palliative care, oncology, orthopedics, medical and surgical intensive care, neuro intensive care, cardiac rehabilitation, and in-home care.
Over the course of his nursing career, Scott has worked within a variety of healthcare institutions and hospital systems, including Tampa General Hospital, Broward General, Lee Health, Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, and Phoenix Memorial Hospital.
Working across different healthcare systems, specialties, patient populations, and levels of acuity has provided Scott with a broad clinical perspective that continues to influence his approach to healthcare and caregiver education.

Since 2007, Scott has served as Administrator and Owner/President of Abby Services, Inc., a Florida-licensed nurse registry serving Southwest Florida.
His experience operating a nurse registry has provided firsthand knowledge of caregiver referrals, client-directed care, independent contractor relationships, caregiver qualifications, documentation requirements, regulatory compliance, and the everyday operational challenges encountered by nurse registries and the caregivers they refer.
This experience is particularly relevant to Scott's work as an educator. His understanding of caregiver education does not come solely from studying regulations or clinical material. It comes from decades spent providing care, practicing nursing, working with caregivers, serving clients, and operating within a regulated healthcare environment.
Scott is actively involved in leadership within the nurse registry and private care industry. He has served on the board of the Private Care Association and currently serves as Vice President of PCA Florida.

Through his PCA Florida leadership and broader industry involvement, Scott actively participates in legislative, regulatory, and policy discussions affecting Florida nurse registries and the caregivers and clients they serve.
This includes meeting directly with representatives of the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), the state agency responsible for licensing and regulating Florida nurse registries, as well as engaging with policymakers, including members of the Florida House of Representatives and Florida Senate, on issues affecting the nurse registry industry.
Scott is also a regular industry speaker, presenter, and educator. His nurse registry-specific presentations and educational materials have been delivered at national conferences and made available to Private Care Association members.
He has also served on the board of the Injury Prevention Coalition in Fort Myers, Florida, reflecting his broader involvement in healthcare and community safety.
Scott regularly presents on nurse registry operations, independent contractor practices, regulatory compliance, caregiver education, marketing, and other issues affecting the nurse registry industry.
At the 2026 Private Care Association National Conference, Scott presented “Preparing Caregivers for Registration Success,” an educational session focused on preparing independently employed caregivers for registration and referral through the nurse registry model.
Drawing on his experience operating a Florida nurse registry, Scott addressed practical considerations surrounding caregiver qualifications, registration documentation, regulatory requirements, and establishing appropriate referral relationships with independently employed caregivers.
At the 2024 Private Care Association National Conference, Scott presented alongside Tyras Madson of Private Nursing Service in Virginia.
Their presentation, “Say This, Not That: A Guide to Appropriate Conversations Regarding Independent Contractors,” addressed communication within the nurse registry and independent contractor model and how everyday terminology and interactions can appropriately reflect the relationship between a nurse registry and independently employed caregivers.
Scott has developed and presented educational content for Private Care Association members addressing regulatory, operational, marketing, and business issues affecting nurse registries.
He has hosted numerous educational webinars for PCA members, including training on managing and optimizing a Google Business Profile.
Scott has also developed nurse registry-specific educational resources, including “Common Misinformation About Home Health Care.”

Scott joined Julio Barea of Ally for the industry webinar “Maintaining & Maximizing Healthy Margins as a Nurse Registry.”
Drawing on his experience as a longtime nurse registry owner, Scott discussed pricing, referral fees, cost management, margins, and positioning a nurse registry to attract higher-value clients.

Scott founded Nurse Registry Consultant LLC, a Florida nurse registry consultancy focused on helping individuals navigate the regulatory landscape of starting a nurse registry.
The consultancy primarily supports prospective nurse registry owners through Florida's initial licensure process. Scott provides guidance and coaching to help new owners understand Florida's regulatory requirements, navigate initial licensure, develop compliant operations, and establish a strong foundation for their businesses.
This work draws directly on Scott's experience operating a Florida nurse registry since 2007 and his ongoing involvement with regulatory and industry issues affecting nurse registries throughout the state.
Scott is the founder and host of The Nurse Registry Podcast, a podcast dedicated to the nurse registry industry.
Through the podcast, Scott explores nurse registry licensing, regulatory compliance, operations, independent contractor issues, and other challenges affecting nurse registry owners and the caregivers they refer. The podcast also provides a platform for conversations with industry professionals and subject-matter experts.
The growth of C-E-U.com and Scott's continuing work with caregivers and nurse registries exposed another recurring challenge: independently employed caregivers needed a more efficient way to address required health screening and communicable-disease documentation.
Scott identified an opportunity to simplify that process.
Together with his brother, Shae Strachan, Scott founded MyHealthForm.com, an online health-screening solution designed to make the process more accessible for independently employed caregivers and the Florida nurse registries that refer them.
MyHealthForm reflects the same approach behind C-E-U.com: identifying a recurring healthcare, regulatory, or operational challenge and developing a practical solution around the needs of the people actually encountering it.
Across his work as a CNA, registered nurse, nurse registry administrator, educator, consultant, speaker, podcast host, and industry leader, Scott's career has remained closely connected to the people providing care.

Outside of healthcare and his work with nurse registries, Scott enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, camping, practicing yoga, and tackling home and DIY projects.
He enjoys learning new things, working with his hands, and taking on projects that often involve figuring things out as he goes. That same curiosity carries into his professional work—understanding how something works, identifying where a process can be improved, and developing practical solutions to real-world problems.
