Overview
Pain and symptom management is an essential part of safe, compassionate care. Health professionals must be able to recognize verbal and nonverbal signs of discomfort, respond appropriately within their role, communicate changes clearly, and support care plans that respect the client’s needs, preferences, safety, and dignity.
This course focuses on practical pain and symptom management in everyday care settings. Learners will review common types of pain, factors that may affect pain reporting, appropriate observation and documentation practices, and the importance of timely communication with the care team. The course also addresses safe responses to changing symptoms, medication-related concerns within the professional role, and client-centered approaches that support comfort without making unsupported assumptions or diagnoses.
