Learner Objectives
Overview
Sit-to-stand lifts are commonly used to assist individuals who can participate partially during transfers but require support due to weakness, instability, fatigue, or mobility limitations. These devices help reduce physical strain on caregivers while supporting safer standing and seated transfers in both home care and facility settings.
This course reviews practical safety principles related to standing lifts, including patient selection considerations, equipment preparation, sling and support positioning, communication, environmental safety, and injury prevention. Participants will also review common transfer mistakes and professional caregiving practices that help support patient dignity and safety.
The goal of this course is to strengthen caregiver awareness, improve transfer safety practices, and support safer mobility assistance during sit-to-stand transfers.
