Self-directed learning completed independently, with scenario-based reflection.

Overview

This course focuses on pharmacotherapeutics as it applies to practical nursing and registered nursing responsibilities in South Carolina care settings. Content emphasizes safe medication-related observations, client-centered communication, recognition of potential adverse effects, medication reconciliation concerns, documentation, and timely reporting within the nurse’s role and scope of practice.

South Carolina RNs and LPNs may use continuing education as one method of meeting continuing competency requirements for license renewal. This course is designed to support safe nursing practice and general continuing competency, but it is not presented as a separate mandated pharmacotherapeutics topic for South Carolina RN/LPN renewal. Pharmacotherapeutics requirements may differ for APRNs with prescriptive authority.
